Continental Materials Corporation was set up in 1954 and now is based in Chicago, Illinois. The company engages in HVAC products (i.e. heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and construction products. Currently (2013.12), the company owns four subsidiaries: Williams Furnace Co. in Colton, California, Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona, Transit Mix Concrete Co., and McKinney Door and Hardware, Inc. In 2012, Continental Materials Corporation reached a settlement of a lawsuit related to a business interruption and property damage claim resulting from a landslide at its Pikeview Quarry, which was filed by the Company against its insurance carrier in November, 2010. The quarry resumed operation in May 2013. == Products == Continental Materials Corporation’s products consist of four segments: Heating and Cooling and Evaporative Cooling (the HVAC group); Concrete, Aggregates and Construction Supplies (CACS), and Door segments (the Construction Products group). Products of the Heating and Cooling segments are gas-fired wall furnaces, console heaters, and fan coils; Products of Evaporative Cooling segments are evaporative coolers; Products of the Door segments are hollow metal doors, door frames and related hardware, wood doors, lavatory fixtures, and electronic access and security systems.
